Long Island City Partnership’s Annual Real Estate Breakfast is the premiere real estate event in Western Queens. For 12 years, we have brought together 250+ leaders in real estate, finance and the LIC community to learn about current projects underway in LIC. Moderated by David Brause, President of Brause Realty and Chair of the LIC Business Improvement District, our previous panels have highlighted a mix of residential, commercial, retail, cultural and industrial developments. This year, we are focusing on the new and exciting business tenants that are shaping our neighborhood.

Speaker Bios:

David Brause - Brause Realty
David Brause has worked in real estate for over 25 years handling acquisitions, development and management of office, retail, and residential property in the tri-state area. As President of Brause Realty Inc., one of the premier family real estate firms in New York, he has been active in the ownership and development of approximately three million square feet of space, including the JetBlue/MetLife Building in LIC. Currently, Brause Realty is developing a 38-story, 272-unit luxury apartment building on Purves Street in LIC called The Forge. David is an LICP Board Member, and Chair of the LIC Business Improvement District.

Chris Doeblin - Book Culture
Chris Doeblin grew up in Buffalo, New York and took up work in a bookshop in the early 1980’s. In 1995, he founded with a partner, Great Jones Books, an academic book wholesaler, and then in 1997, Labyrinths Books, the academic bookstore at Columbia. Labyrinth Books was rebranded Book Culture, and spun off from Great Jones in 2007, and grew to include locations on Broadway in 2010, on Columbus Avenue in 2014, and LIC in 2017. Chris is the President of Book Culture, Inc. and the Managing Partner of Book Culture on Columbus Avenue.

James Orsini - VaynerMedia
James Orsini is Chief Operating Offcer for VaynerMedia, a full-service digital agency. Working alongside founder and CEO Gary Vaynerchuk, James helps manage the agency for success. Before joining VaynerMedia, James was Chief Executive Offcer and member of the Board of Directors of Sito Mobile Ltd. A proven leader and author of numerous business articles, Mr. Orsini has also penned white papers and has appeared on numerous podcasts. James has more than 30 years of finance and operations experience across a broad range of marketing and communications disciplines.

David Sharfstein - Fifth Hammer Brewing Co. 
David Sharfstein is the co-founder of Fifth Hammer Brewing Company. From 2008-2014, he was a litigator at the firms Kaye Scholer and Reed Smith. In late 2014, his wife gave him permission to quit his job and -- before she could change her mind -- he quit the following day. His initial plan was to open a bar specializing in local craft beer, but after meeting his now-business partner Chris Cuzme, the two decided to pursue a brewery together. Nearly three years later, on September 29, 2017, they opened Fifth Hammer Brewing Company. 

Charlie Stewart - Altice USA
Charles Stewart joined Altice after 21 years of corporate, finance and investment banking experience in the U.S., Latin America and Europe. Most recently, Mr. Stewart served as CEO of Itau BBA International plc, where he oversaw Itau-Unibanco’s wholesale banking activities in Europe, U.S. and Asia. Prior to that, he spent 19 years at Morgan Stanley as an investment banker in various roles, including 10 years focusing on the U.S. cable, broadcast, and publishing industries. He is a graduate of Yale University.
